With her first release of 2026, Swedish artist Dottie Andersson enters a new chapter - marked by her signing with Royal Mountain Records, she shares the first playful outcome of this partnership,“I love being sad” on February 11th.

Born from a breakup that ended with the words “you’re too sad for me,” Andersson flips the narrative entirely. Sadness, she realizes, isn’t a flaw - it’s the one constant that never left her, and she views it as an act of power. A contradiction done right, "I love being sad" is a bright, vibey indie-pop gem and comes alongside a video directed by Andersson herself in collaboration with Urs Mader.

Recorded, mixed and produced by Dottie Andersson and Ben Jackson-Cook (Rag’n’Bone Man), the drummer-pianist duo focused intently on building a true performance from real sounds. No shortcuts, no samples, nothing that they couldn't create themselves. They coined the term “Garage-Pop”, delivering a raw indie banger that swirls with unmistakable Scandinavian melodies.

Born in Sweden (“at IKEA”, in her own words), Andersson studied drums before honing her craft as a songwriter. Over the years, she has played festivals like Eurosonic and Reeperbahn, toured with artists like Giant Rooks, and steadily built an international audience.
